The Tower
title The Towerdescription Drawing on the tradition of the California Light and Space movement, San Diego-based artist Jim Skalman created an installation titled "The Tower/La Torre" for inSITE94 that joined these sensibilities in a minimal expression of calculated form, space, and light. Skalman chose to work at La Torre in Tijuana because of its architectural space, history, and the possibilities it offered. The artist created a sparse installation housing few constructed forms and lit the interior rooms with diffused lighting to further transform them into spaces of contemplation. -- inSITE94 La Torre de Tijuana, Tijuana, Mexico Sculpture and Installations Special Collections & Archives, UC San Diego, La Jolla, 92093-0175 (https://lib.ucsd.edu/sca) This image is a scan of a 35mm color slide from the InSite Archive (MSS 707, Box 310, Folder 06, Item 344) [Title, Date].
