Each of them is resting a rifle on the ground next to him, holding the muzzle in his right hand. The taller boy, to the right, is also wearing a belt of ammunition and holding some kind of horn in his left hand. The animal in front of them is a large cat, most likely a mountain lion (a related source refers to it as a panther) which is posed on the ground.
