Mexican American Art Since 1848 (MAAS1848) links to a variety of materials. We virtually join digital files of art and related documents from libraries, archives, and museums. Our open-source portal compiles digital collections from national and regional aggregators to build the largest database of documents and artwork to enhance understanding of the aesthetic, geographic, and historical range of Mexican American visual art. National Museum of Mexican Art (NMMA)

Founded in 1982, the National Museum of Mexican Art represents the Mexican community from their own point of view and their own voice. Their mission is to stimulate knowledge and appreciation of Mexican art and culture from both sides of the border through a significant permanent collection of Mexican art, rich visual and performing arts programs, high quality arts education programs and resources and professional development of Mexican artists. The museum houses one of the country’s largest Mexican art collections, including more than 20,000 seminal pieces from ancient Mexico to the present. Through a pilot project, they share 86 works of art.

Mexic-Arte Museum (MAM)

The Mexic‐Arte Museum is dedicated to enriching the community through education programs, exhibitions, and the collection, preservation, and interpretation of Mexican, Latino, and Latin American art and culture for visitors of all ages. The museum’s permanent collection is composed of over 5,000 contemporary Mexican, Latinx, and Latin American art and material culture. Through a pilot project, they shared 96 works of art from the Juan Antonio Sandoval Jr. Collection.
