The Institute for Latino Studies at the University of Notre Dame commissioned “Infórmate o Inflamate” as part of their HIV/AIDS prevention project, "Prevenir es Vivir" ("To Prevent is to Live"). Reyes’s title holds a double meaning, suggesting two paths for the Spanish-speaking community: inform or inflame yourself. “Informate o Inflamate” is telling members of the community to learn about HIV/AIDS prevention so they can protect themselves from contracting the disease. Reyes created the poster using silkscreen monoprint techniques. Working from a photograph, Reyes started with a raw silkscreen and an image, whose details were traced, and then ink was laid overtop. This technique generates an engaging and dimensional product, as is seen in the piece. (Author: Ivy Broder)
